What We Are...
The Educare Trust is a Non-Governmental Organization registered under the Indian Act, 1882. It came into existence in 2002 by Professor James Tooley of the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, and other members associated with him in his research work in India. The Educare Trust carries out research as well as assists private schools in low-income areas to improve their educational standards and facilities. This, it achieves by offering several service to private unaided schools.

These services include:

1. Scholarship through Voucher Scheme:
This Scheme is very successful where the fund is distributed to the students in the form of vouchers. The cheque is given to the school owners, in turn this helps to run the scheme without any hindrance. In short scholarship scheme is to help the poorest children to attend private schools. The mission of the scholarship fund is to help economically deprived children in rural and urban India to pursue education in private unaided schools

2. Micro Finance: This Programme is focused on schools which is about to drop due to financial crisis. Schools which lack proper infra structure, sufficient space, class rooms and many other necessities required for a school. This is a scheme where The Educare Trust helps schools help themselves.

3.English Literacy Programme through Jolly Phonics:
This is an interesting programme which is successful in all the schools where jolly phonics has been taught. This is to bring out improvement in reading, spelling, letter recognition, dictation and sound values of letters.  The core reason for such service is parents from low income background prefer their children’s education, to be in English where it is well known fact that English is the only language globally accepted.

4. Further Research: At present research has been carried out to track the students and help them for further education. This also leads to find out the cause for drop outs and steps to prevent dropouts in future.

The Trust is advised by an International team from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England and is based in the city of Hyderabad , Andhra Pradesh , India.
